Dr. Elizabeth Blackburn
Elizabeth Blackburn was born in Australia and went on to gain her M.Sc. at the University of Melbourne. She later went on to study at Cambridge and Yale and is currently Professor of Biology and Physiology at the University of California. In 1998 she was the winner of The Australia Prize for her work in molecular genetics.
Barry Marshall (Nobel Laureate)
Barry Marshall is one of Australia's eleven Nobel Prize Winners.
Barry Marshall and Robin Warren received the Nobel Prize in 2005 for their discovery in 1982 of the Helicobacter pylori bacterium which causes stomach ulcers and gastritis.
